Why does music get removed from spotify

It gets really old, especially when you pay for it. I love spotify with all my heart, I constantly brag about it to my friends trying to convince them to use it. I've been a Spotify user for over a year now, but I am disappointed that a lot of good songs are not on there. To make it even worse my favorite songs keep getting removed. Along with this I really believe you guys should add more underground songs by bands like Linkin Park, Papa Roach etc.

WHY do you keep removing songs??? Go to solution. All forum topics Previous Topic Next Topic. Casual Listener. Labels: Labels: Music Other. Accepted Solutions. Reply 21 Likes.

Community Legend. Hi, Having one of the songs in your playlist taken down is annoying but I think Spotify just do that when its inevitable.

And there is another argument that what powerful artists like Yorke should do is ensure that their record deal is not so skewed towards the labels, thereby setting a precedent that others can follow after him. Yorke once described old school major label deals as akin to paying off your mortgage and the bank still owning your house. Musicians are creative people, completely wrapped up in and concerned about the art they make, and rightly so.

They get upset when their work is badly represented or taken out of context, when a track is appropriated for an advert or a gig is filmed badly by a fan and put up on YouTube.

And because control of his art is important to Thom Yorke, so is ownership of that art. Back in , Radiohead chose not to sign a new deal with Parlophone and, instead, brought out In Rainbows as an experimental pay-what-you-want download money going straight to the band. After that, the band joined XL to release In Rainbows, on a much simpler deal.

What Thom Yorke wants is for his art to have a direct relationship with its fans. The digital age seems to promise this relationship; instead, with Spotify, there are two and three other parties involved. Oh, did I mention that all the major labels and the big indies have shares in Spotify? Any sort of legal conflict can cause either of the party to come up with any action. And it mainly involves taking down the particular song.

Clients who have switched to the premium version of Spotify which costs a reasonable rate every month, find numerous tracks being taken down without any notice. It is impossible to anticipate this action from Spotify as well. So what is the motive behind songs being taken down?

There are a couple of reasons for this to happen. Given below are some of the reasons and what you can possibly do about it;. As mentioned earlier, several guidelines frame the agreement that the artist or music owner must acknowledge. The owner or the holder of the album must at all means agree to the guidelines and participate accordingly.

Any misconduct from their side will result in the music being removed or temporarily inaccessible until they make any further changes. With over a million songs, Spotify does justice to your taste no matter where you are from. So what happens when Spotify loses the right to stream?

They would lose access to that particular song. In turn, that track would appear greyed and inaccessible.
